This is BEAUTIFUL. Not only is the sculpture amazing, but the photograph as well.

Interesting considering what an actual death mask is.

indeed- it is quit odd to think of yourself swimming with maggots, dirt and new experiences of decomposition. Thats why i feel like the feather wings have a sort of tappering, that i really like. Like a perspectival look into the distant past, or future, and present through sharp memories and revelations....rips in time and space if you will that let the gravity of life wonder fully into. Yes definitely a mask to show your dead gramother, or husband, when you re-meet them on the other side, Perhaps they will say "This is quit a terrible way to say hello to some one, you!! it is quit beautiful know it though.."

or maybe perhaps you have a different take on what the dead would have to say about this sort of thing.... making impressions about the dead is no more difficult then making certainties and relationships with our microwaves and tevivisions. Death is sensitive and illuminating......us.....sometimes........when we are good......and eat our vegitibles........and pay attention in class.........and do our life work........then, we can bare the fruit of over coming that which interrupts your groove, your death that is....is a place where we hide if we choose to hide and live if we choose to live.

I find that change in all our circumstances

Well i was refering to the old custom of making death masks. A plaster casting of a persons face nearly after their death.
:iconollaysheo:
yeah i know those- the facial expression can be pretty disheartening

Something about this is just SOO beautiful. I love that it's made out of pig intestine. I can imagine how lovely it would look on someone, if it weren't attached to the skull =)
